The role of the Senior Occupational Therapist is to provide, develop and deliver a specialised and skilled level of Occupational Therapy intervention to each service within the rotation. To be aware of the total therapy needs of the team, the changing demands and act in consultation with the Team Leaders to fulfil these needs. To be able to be proactive at delivering therapeutic interventions within a timely manner to enable patients to maintain their independence, identifying when patients would benefit from further rehabilitation and support services and to refer on to other services appropriately. To assist with the continuous service development of the therapy services to provide high quality care and timely intervention.
To manage complex diverse cases which may include medical, neurological, traumatic brain injury, surgical, orthopedic, musculo-skeletal and psychiatric conditions. To undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner. To work within a framework of local, national and Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT) delivered standards and evaluate quality of practice. Please see for full details of this role.
