Are you looking to develop and kickstart a career in Finance? Do you have a basic understanding of accounting processes/Accounts Payable functions?

If so, we\'re looking for a Banking Assistant to join our close knit Finance team. The Banking team are responsible for processing accounts payable and receivable transactions and maintaining various operational banking tasks on a daily basis. They are also responsible for ensuring an effective, accurate and responsive banking service is provided to both internal and external customers.

We actively encourage our colleagues to sign up for the AAT Apprenticeship (Level 3), which is fully funded by us, so that they can develop a long term career within Finance/Accounting. We already have a number of colleagues signed up to this apprenticeship and we look forward to seeing them grow on their journey!

This role will be based at our Bexhill-on-Sea offices with a hybrid approach to working (typically 1-2 day a week in the office, though you\'re welcome in as many days as you\'d like!)

What does day to day look like?

  • Maintaining the Banking email inbox
  • Liaising with other departments to eliminate causes of issues and errors, acting as a referral point for the business
  • Ensuring all Banking activities are performed with adherence to controls, processes, procedures and deadlines
  • Actioning a variety of daily and weekly operational tasks including daily IAT, updating the daily cashflow schedule, actioning cancelled cheque requests, preparing daily direct debit submissions, preparing daily cheque deposits and posting to relevant ledges and/or broking systems
  • Producing manual and automated cheque requests on a daily basis
  • Preparing daily online banking BACS, CHAPS and Faster Payment requests
  • Posting chargeback entries and challenging items with our banking provider by providing all relevant and supporting documentation
  • Actioning any other day to day tasks to support the wider finance team and any other accounting related duties
What are we looking for?
  • A general understanding of Accounts Payable functions highly beneficial
  • Basic knowledge of accounting processes including double entry book-keeping
  • Strong attention to detail and working with a high degree of accuracy
  • Experience of dealing with customer queries by email, phone or in person
