The Opportunity



Primary Objectives




An opportunity to undertake a significantly more technical legal role than the usual paralegal function, in this ground-breaking and dynamic team at one of the world's leading law firms.


You will be working as a knowledge paralegal, which means that your focus will be on summarising and interpreting emerging case law, helping to communicate the law to fee earners and clients, and other activities relating to harnessing, utilising and communicating legal knowledge. Your time will be split between the diverse practice areas of banking litigation and public law, directly assisting the knowledge counsel (both of whom have over 20 years' experience) for each respective team.


Working directly with senior lawyers, the role provides an unusually high level of contact with partners across the two practice areas. There is also scope for pro bono work with the firm's award-winning public law team who have been recognised for their work in this area.

Primary Responsibilities



Monitoring legal case updates (e.g. Lawtel and Westlaw) to identify new decisions of interest. Reading the latest judgments and drafting case summaries. Proof reading, formatting and arranging publication of external e-bulletins and blog posts. Assisting with preparation and delivery of podcasts. Drafting the regular internal case law update to the banking litigation team. Helping to organise the banking litigation internal seminar series. Tracking the progress and status of banking litigation cases of interest. Gathering and uploading knowhow. Assisting with external presentations and client seminars.

Qualifications, skills and experience



Law degree or undergraduate degree (ideally 2.1 or first) Preferably will have successfully completed LPC / Bar Course or equivalent / SQE Office administration experience or paralegal work experience preferred Excellent analytical skills Excellent communication skills, oral and written Excellent research skills Excellent client service skills
