We're looking for a passionate, guest-focused and hands-on Bar Manager to lead the front-of-house team at The Boot Factory - the bar, restaurant and garden space within Artist Residence Bristol.
Role Summary
We're looking for a warm, charismatic and hands-on Bar Manager to lead the front-of-house team at The Boot Factory - the bar, restaurant and garden space inside Artist Residence Bristol.
This is a venue that feels like your coolest friend's house party - casual, fun, full of energy, but with quality at its heart. As Bar Manager, you'll be in charge of the entire Boot Factory experience - the bar, dining room andgarden - setting the vibe, managing service, and creating a space guests love to return to.
You'll lead by example on the floor, from setting lighting and music with our C-Burn system, to delivering relaxed but slick service. You'll manage a team including a Head Bartender and floor staff, take ownership of stock, GPs and rotas, and play a key role in how we grow the bar and restaurant's local reputation.
Whether you're solo on a quiet Wednesday or leading a team of 7 on a busy Saturday night, you'll be the beating heart of the Boot Factory. If you're all about people, detail, and creating special spaces, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
Guest Experience & Atmosphere
Take charge of the full Boot Factory space (bar, dining area & garden)
Ensure a welcoming, vibrant, and consistent ambience: lighting, music, tone, service
Adjust music volume and flow using the C-Burn system to maintain the vibe
Be present on the floor during service, interacting with guests and leading the team
Leadership & Team
Lead, train and inspire a small FOH team including a Head Bartender and service staff
Ensure team culture reflects our values: fun, relaxed, but high standards
Cover quiet services solo when needed, but lead teams of up to 6-7 at peak times
Support staff training on drinks, floor service, check-ins, and local knowledge
Operations & Financials
Oversee beverage stock, ordering, stock takes and weekly cash-ups
Work alongside the Head Chef to support food GP targets and kitchen comms
Ensure payments are processed correctly and all FOH systems are in place
Be accountable for revenue targets, GP %, labour efficiency and reviews
Coordinate service planning with the Hotel & Events Manager and Duty Managers
Flexibility & Site Integration
Act as Duty Manager during late shifts - responsible for late check-ins, basic hotel support, and closing procedures
Work closely with the wider team to create a seamless guest journey between hotel and Boot Factory
Be a key player in shaping future F&B plans and events in the space
KPIs:
Average review scores across platforms (Google, Resy, OTA, guest feedback)
Bar & restaurant GP % consistently achieved
Stock takes accurate and reconciled weekly
Labour % aligned with budget and sales
Repeat local guests and community engagement
Team feedback, training completed and staff retention
Cleanliness, atmosphere, and service standards maintained consistently
Ideal Candidate:
A natural host who thrives on floor energy and creating great vibes
Confident managing both bar and restaurant service
Warm, unpretentious, great with guests and hands-on with staff
Strong financial acumen with experience managing stock, GPs, and rotas
Passionate about hospitality, events, and community
Comfortable leading a shift solo or managing a team of 6+
Organised, energetic, and takes pride in a beautifully run space

32,000-36,000 DOE + performance bonus
Full-time, permanent role with regular evenings and weekends
