Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Manager to oversee the daily operations of Bar 1879 in our brand new clubhouse which opened in April 2025. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in hospitality and leadership, ensuring that our bar team delivers exceptional service while maintaining high standards. This role requires team management skills, and a passion for creating memorable experiences for our guests.

Normal opening hours of Bar 1879 are Wednesday through to Sunday each week. The clubhouse is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, though occasionaly we may take a function booking which requires a licenced bar.

Ideally we would like to employ a full time Bar Manager (40 hours) but we would also consider a reduced hour contract (minimum 30 hours per week), pay pro rata.

Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of bar operations, including staff supervision and training. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Maintain inventory levels and order supplies as needed to ensure smooth operations. Foster a positive work environment through effective team management and leadership. Ensuring the cleanliness of front of house, bar and service areas and cellar Ensuring that front of house is fully staffed especially at busy times Collaborate with other departments to enhance the overall guest experience including functions and events. Handle customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and courtesy.

Skills

Proven experience in a licenced premises. Ability to create a welcoming environment for customers Supervising experience with the ability to lead and motivate a diverse team. Excellent knowledge of licenced premises practices and regulations. Ability to manage accounts, take payments, set budgets and achieve targets. Strong organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of hospitality.

Pay: 29,000.00-31,000.00 per year
