Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Bar Manager to join our vibrant team. You will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service to our patrons, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere while efficiently serving drinks and maintaining the bar area. This position requires excellent communication skills, a passion for hospitality, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
We're looking for someone who is confident in the role, can be the face and personality of the pub and takes pride in ownership of ideas, campaigns and day-to-day management.

Essential skills: pub or bar experience and barista experience for coffees. Leadership skills needed to drive the team, upskilling others for quality and standards.

The Black Swan Pub and Theatre is a community interest company, meaning we are not for profit. Paid staff are essential to the pub whilst a team of volunteers coordinate the theatre and community projects.

We require someone who is experienced in pubs and bars with experience in leadership, some form of management. Importantly, the right candidate will have the willingness to drive our pub and venue to be the best that it can be; as a pub, a venue and for meeting our social objectives.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve a variety of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, while adhering to standard recipes and presentation guidelines. Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with patrons, taking orders accurately, and responding promptly to requests. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the bar area, including washing glassware, cleaning surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately. Monitor inventory levels of drinks and supplies, assisting with stock management and reordering as necessary. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including responsible serving practices. Create and uphold a friendly and inviting atmosphere for guests by promoting special events or drink offerings. Coordinate and manage the weekly rotas and staffing, ensuring all shifts and events are covered. Ensuring staff are trained and ensuring quality and standards are met with all staff and members of the team. Ensure the venue hire diary is kept up-to-date and preparations for private hires and events are organised. Assist the Director with any other duties as required for the role.

Qualifications

Previous experience in a bar or hospitality setting. Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with customers and team members. Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail. A passion for mixology or willingness to learn about different beverages is advantageous. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business needs. Must be at least 18 years of age due to the nature of the role involving alcohol service.

The role

This is a new role and it is a temporary role to begin with; with the idea this role becomes a permanent role and career fixture with us.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Pay: 25,000.00-27,000.00 per year
