Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced

Bar Manager

to lead and oversee the day-to-day operations of our bar. You will be responsible for managing a small team, ensuring high standards of service, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all guests. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, proactive, and passionate about hospitality, drinks, and people.

Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership & Staff Management

Lead, train, and supervise a small team of bar staff, ensuring excellent customer service and professionalism. Actively participate in daily bar operations including drink preparation, table service, and guest interaction, especially during busy periods. Organise staff rotas to ensure the bar is appropriately staffed during peak and off-peak times. Create a positive, motivating work environment that encourages growth, accountability, and staff retention. Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews to support development and maintain high team morale.

Customer Experience

Deliver and maintain a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere for all guests. Ensure all beverages are consistently prepared and presented to a high standard. Handle customer feedback with professionalism, resolving complaints efficiently and diplomatically. Uphold excellent customer service standards at all times, ensuring guest satisfaction and return business.

Operational & Financial Management

Meet and exceed sales targets and profitability goals set by senior management. Monitor daily financials, including cash handling, POS transactions, and tip distribution. Create and implement promotions and events to drive sales and attract new customers.

Stock & Inventory Management

Monitor stock levels for beverages, garnishes, glassware, and consumables, ensuring timely reordering. Maintain accurate records of inventory usage, deliveries, and wastage. Work with suppliers and vendors to source quality products at competitive pricing.

Compliance, Health & Safety

Ensure the bar area is always clean, organised, and compliant with hygiene and safety regulations. Oversee cleanliness and grooming standards of all staff members. Stay up to date with licensing laws, food safety, and health & safety requirements and ensure the venue is fully compliant. Monitor for and report any potential hazards, damages, or maintenance issues.

Requirements:

Proven experience as a Bar Manager, Supervisor, or similar role in the hospitality industry. Strong knowledge of drink menus, mixology, and bar equipment. Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high standard of service. Experience in stock control, budgeting, and sales reporting. Personal Licence Holder (preferred but not essential). Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
