Barista (part Time)

Neepsend, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About us

Foundry Coffee Roasters is a small, independent business, based in Cutlery Works, Sheffield. We are a Real Living Wage employer and we have operated on a 'Carbon Neutral' basis since 2020.

We have been roasting coffee since 2012, specialising in supplying exceptional speciality coffee to home baristas in the 'direct to customer' market.

We also operate a busy coffee shop from the same premises as the roastery. Here, we are focussed on high quality, friendly and professional service which showcases the coffee that we take such care to source and prepare for our customers.

This role.

This position is a high-demand role, and we are looking for an exceptional candidate to fill the position. You'll need to have been working as a barista for at least one year within the last 12 months - sorry, no exceptions.

The barista is responsible for preparing coffee and other beverages, as well as being involved in the serving of these beverages to customers. Our ideal candidate will have a passion for coffee and be capable of operating an espresso machine and EPOS system simultaneously.

Candidates should be passionate about serving customers and enjoy working in a busy environment with high energy and enthusiasm. You will need to be organised, work efficiently and be focussed on getting the details right, every time.

Responsibilities:

Prepare coffee and other food and drinks for customers - consistently and to high company standards. Be confident and organised when working alone. Although there are usually other team members around, the coffee shop is usually staffed by one person. Be proficient with latte art. Keep the coffee bar clean and tidy throughout service. Have good communication skills and a friendly, outgoing personality. Have good attention to detail and be able to spot errors immediately. Have good sensory skills. Have (or be willing to develop) a thorough understanding of coffee brewing theory. Participate in the ongoing process of quality control in conjunction with the roasting team. This involves being able to evaluate roast profiles using specific instruments and following pre-determined processes. Be friendly and welcoming to customers. Have a passion for learning and continuous professional development. Communicate with suppliers where necessary. Engage with customers using social media where necessary. You will typically work every other weekend, between 9.30am and 3.30pm.
We expect that the successful candidate will take on some additional duties, according to the needs of the team and based on their skill, knowledge and experience.
