Basket Buddies are seeking passionate and dedicated Basketball Coaches to join our team. We are looking for energetic individuals to deliver fun basketball classes to children aged between 5 and 13 years. If you have experience working with young children and can give them a positive introduction to basketball, we'd love to hear from you. The right candidates will be outgoing, proactive and able to work as part of a team. This role would suit sports students, drama students or nursery/ teaching assistant.
Please note: All Basket Buddies Job Positions are positions of trust and are exempt from the 1974 UK Rehabilitation of Offenders Act UK. Character references and a valid enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
Requirements
Candidates must be available weekend mornings (8am - 1pm) on a regular basis.
Experience working with children (Sports/Basketball coaching experience preferential; knowledge of basketball rules and gameplay essential)
Clean DBS essential.
Be able to commute to various venues in Solihull (B90,B91, B92,B93)
May be required to transport kit to sessions
Good physical fitness and stamina
A personal commitment to sustaining professional working practices in the workplace at all times including excellent timekeeping and punctuality skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
A passion for mentoring young athletes and fostering their love for the sport.
Relevant coaching qualifications or certifications are desirable but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
Session plans are provided, and full training will be given. However, experience of planning and delivering sports sessions is preferential.
Coaching high quality basketball sessions for children from 5 - 13 years old.
Communication with children, parents/carers to ensure smooth running and success of classes
Physically able to deliver active classes with excellent verbal communication skills.
Travel to venues and responsibility for equipment
Ensuring registers and health & safety form are completed
Educate players on the rules of basketball, sportsmanship, and the importance of physical fitness.
Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to enhance their skills.
Foster a positive team culture that encourages participation, respect, and collaboration among players.
Communicate effectively with players, parents, and other coaching staff regarding player development.
