Behaviour Mentor
8.45 am - 3.15 pm term time only
Key Responsibilities
Provide one-to-one mentoring to pupils, promoting positive behaviour, self-esteem, and resilience.
Support pupils during moments of dysregulation, using calm, consistent and trauma-informed approaches to help them regulate safely and return to learning.
Implement de-escalation strategies, including low-arousal and restorative approaches, in line with school policy and training.
Help pupils recognise triggers, develop coping strategies, and reflect on behaviour in a supportive and constructive way.
Act as a positive role model, encouraging engagement, participation, and respectful relationships.
Support classroom staff in managing challenging behaviour and maintaining a safe learning environment.
Experience
Experience in a special school, alternative provision, or similar setting.
Training in positive handling approaches.
Knowledge of Choice Theory, restorative practices, or therapeutic interventions.
Ability to manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently, using de-escalation strategies.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Resilience, flexibility, and the ability to remain solution-focused under pressure.
Excellent ability to complete and keep accurate records.
