Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate behaviour support Mentor to support and guide children in their educational and personal development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, special education, or related fields, along with experience working with children. As a Mentor, you will play a crucial role in fostering a positive learning environment, encouraging academic growth, and promoting essential life skills.

Responsibilities



Provide one-on-one mentoring to children, focusing on their individual needs and learning styles. Assist with academic subjects such as Math and literacy through tailored tutoring sessions. Implement behaviour management strategies to promote positive interactions and emotional well-being. Support children with special educational needs using techniques from applied behaviour analysis. Engage in activities that enhance communication skills and social interaction among peers. Facilitate learning through play and structured activities in areas such as physical education and speech therapy. Maintain accurate records of progress and development for each child, including proofreading reports when necessary. Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to each child's development.

Qualifications



Proven experience working with children in educational or childcare settings. Background in early childhood education or special education is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues. Familiarity with behaviour management techniques and mentoring practices. Ability to provide tutoring in subjects including Math and literacy. Experience in teaching physical education or engaging children in active play is an advantage. Knowledge of speech therapy principles is beneficial but not essential. A genuine passion for nurturing children's growth and development through supportive mentorship. Must have a clear DBS on the update system.

Must have a in date Team Teach certificate.

This job will be supporting the Senior team in a specialist education setting. Applicant will be first line in support as behaviour intervention lead. Applicant must have experience de escalating challenging behaviour and confident when approaching dangerous behaviours.

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: Up to 20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32.5 per week
