We have two exciting new roles available to support in our newly acquired buildings, one in Tollerton and one in Hucknall. The Behaviour Support Workers will work within a small team to support the delivery of small educational groups within Do Talk Write, requiring an alternative approach to traditional classroom methods in order to meet social, emotional and behavioural needs and ensure achievement.
The role is term-time only plus 10 non-term days per academic year.

The main tasks and responsibilities are as follows:
To assist tutors in providing practical support for groups of learners when dysregulated/unengaged; support learners to develop emotional regulation, social skills and positive coping strategies/build positive relationships with students to encourage engagement
To provide general administration support, e.g. completing incident forms.
To ensure that a positive climate for learning is maintained both physically and visually to provide an optimum environment for learning (including contributing to preparing displays within the building).
To open the DTW building prior to staff and learners arriving and closing up after they have left.
Liaising with tutors and the Office Manager confirming/chasing learner attendance.
Partake in First Aid training.
To ensure the building is clean and tidy at the end of the day (bins emptied, etc.).
To check that all engagement resources, materials, and equipment are suitably stored in the relevant storage area and that all items are appropriately labelled.
Attend regular team meetings and whole staff briefings when required.
To keep and maintain accurate records (e.g. Incident Report Forms) for DTW under the direction of key leaders.
Maintaining good working relationships with other team members and ensuring communication is prompt and effective.
Escalate any serious behavioural concerns to the management team.
The organisation and facilitation of Free School Meals to all appropriate learners.
Awareness of key policies and procedures for DTW.
Awareness of health and safety procedures.
To encourage and model high standards of behaviour within DTW.
To communicate with parents at the request of Leaders.
To attend and assist on educational visits for DTW learners
Skills required:
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people
Ability to organise workday/prioritise duties
The capability of working in a team, supporting others, proving reliability and self-management
A successful track record supporting in the secondary phase of education
Ability to manage learners across key stages 3 and 4
Experience supporting learner behaviour in more than one school including experience of post 16 education (desirable)
Tactics to calm dysregulated young people
Knowledge of The Incredible 5-point scale in relation to emotional responses in Autism
Experience of working with Autistic/SEND/SEMH/ADHD learners
Awareness of boundaries when working with young people
Vigilant safeguarding ethos
Calm in heightened situations
Conscientious and takes pride in work
Capable of completing paperwork to a high and thorough standard such as incident report forms
Proactive at work in response to learners behavioural and emotional needs
Takes pride in their environment - both in cleanliness and vibrancy
