Purpose of the Role



To provide expert behavioural support to children and young people aged 16-17 in care and supported accommodation, promoting emotional wellbeing, positive behaviour, and resilience. The role supports trauma-informed care and aligns with

Key Responsibilities



Behavioural Support & Intervention



Assess behavioural needs and develop personalised support plans. Deliver 1:1 and group interventions using evidence-based approaches (e.g. CBT, restorative practice). Support staff in managing challenging behaviours and promoting positive reinforcement strategies.

Safeguarding & Compliance



Ensure all interventions align with

Ofsted's Protection Standard (Regulation 5)

and

Support Standard (Regulation 7)

. Maintain accurate records and contribute to incident reviews and safeguarding reports. Promote a culture of safety, respect, and emotional regulation.

Staff Training & Development



Provide training and coaching to staff on behaviour management, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed care. Support reflective practice and team learning.

Multi-Agency Collaboration



Work closely with social workers, CAMHS, education providers, and other professionals. Attend care planning and review meetings, contributing behavioural insights.

Monitoring & Evaluation



Participate in

Quality of Support Reviews (Regulation 32)

. Use feedback from young people and staff to improve behavioural strategies and outcomes.

Person Specification



Essential



Qualification in psychology, behavioural science, social work, or a related field. Experience supporting children and young people with behavioural needs in care settings. Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding. Knowledge of

The Supported Accommodation (England) Regulations 2023

and Ofsted inspection frameworks.

Desirable



Experience in residential care or supported living environments. Training in therapeutic approaches (e.g., PBS, DBT, restorative practice). Familiarity with youth justice or education settings.
