: We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to manage the technical delivery of our projects from start to finish. You will work closely with the Project Manager to oversee every technical element, from initial design through to handover and aftercare support.
Project Specific Responsibilities
Review initial design and quotation upon receiving orders; highlight questions or queries for handover.
Participate in project handover meetings from the sales team, assessing technical risks and opportunities, and clearly communicating these to the project team.
Prepare initial RFIs in collaboration with the Lead Design Engineer.
Maintain regular communication with clients and consultants, ensuring the latest project details are available.
Attend technical meetings alongside the Project Manager and Lead Designer throughout the design process.
Review and verify points schedules and initial equipment selections with the Lead Designer.
Develop detailed system operation descriptions.
Oversee network topology design, ensuring suitable network equipment, wiring, and cabling schemes are selected.
Verify room schedules alongside the Lead Designer.
Write software programs to be installed into control panels prior to dispatch.
Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) in collaboration with Project Commissioning Engineers.
Provide ongoing technical support to the Project Manager, handling alterations in scope, design adjustments, software updates, and operational modifications.
Support Commissioning Engineers with technical adjustments or system improvements on-site.
Ensure smooth handover to commissioning teams once control panels arrive on-site.
Assist commissioning teams throughout the process, ensuring tasks are completed safely and effectively.
Communicate consistently with clients and consultants to capture scope changes promptly and make necessary system adjustments.
Provide commissioning documentation to on-site teams in coordination with the Lead Designer.
Oversee on-site system integration, working closely with commissioning engineers.
Ensure all documentation and backups are correctly stored and made accessible to clients.
Attend client and consultant handover meetings.
Lead project debriefs with key team members to document lessons learned and review project financials with the Project Manager.
General Responsibilities
Train and mentor staff at various levels within the business.
Contribute actively to the creation of Imperium Academy training documentation.
Regularly communicate with the Technical Director and Sales team about potential improvements to preliminary designs and quotes.
Stay updated on industry developments, continuously striving to deliver cost-effective and high-quality systems.
Maintain professional competence through ongoing development and training.
Work responsibly, acknowledging personal competencies and limitations.
Support colleagues raising genuine concerns about risks, malpractice, or wrongdoing.
Adopt sustainable practices to minimise waste and environmental impact.
Adhere to the ethical principles outlined by the Engineering Council at all times.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
Must hold a valid CSCS/ECS gold card.
Significant experience in BEMS engineering, particularly in technical oversight roles.

- LoRaWAN Demonstrated experience writing and deploying software for control systems.
Proven ability to deliver BEMS projects to a high standard.
Experience working in luxury residential properties.
Ability to adapt to the dynamic residential project requirements.
Strong knowledge of network topology design and integration.
Excellent communication skills with experience liaising with clients and consultants.
Capability to identify project risks and opportunities clearly and effectively.
Experience mentoring and training technical staff.
Familiarity with sustainable and ethical engineering practices.
Membership or Chartered status, or working towards professional registration with a recognised engineering institution is highly desirable.
