a leader in railway engineering,are looking for two competent bench fitters to join our ever-growing team to help support the overhaul of On Track Machines (OTMs) at our Worksop Depot.
MAIN PURPOSE:
To overhaul the bespoke mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic components on a wide range of OTM's and heavy Plant equipment. Safe use of hand tools, power tools and ability to Read engineering drawings required.
SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure that the risks to the Health and Safety of yourself, fellow Employees, Contractors and third parties are systematically managed to as low as is reasonably practicable. Comply with all Health and Safety legislation and approved codes of practice.
SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Previous experience in mechanical fitting hydraulics, pumps, pistons, general conveyors and other manufacturing-based equipment is highly advantageous
Overhauling of heavy plant machinery including bearings, seals and precision components
Confident user of basic hand tools and test equipment
Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
IT literate
Formal qualification in mechanical engineering is advantageous
Fitting and assembling complex special purpose machinery for a wide range of clientele
Testing, fault finding stripping down to component level and correcting any mechanical issues during assembly of specialist equipment
Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Workshop/Bench Fitter or similar
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a high standard of work in previous positions.
They should also be prepared to work some overtime to make sure that deadlines are met.
The successful Bench Fitters should hold have a clean UK licence and own a comprehensive vehicle
PERSONAL SPECIFICATION:
1. KNOWLEDGE
Working knowledge of Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems
Working to tight tolerances, accurately and efficiently making any necessary adjustments
Bench fitting skills including; marking out, reaming, drilling, tapping, counterboring etc.
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline
Welding skills are a benefit
2. SKILLS/ABILITIES
Experience of on track plant machinery preferable but not essential
Assess and evaluate rotating machines
Test components
Measuring
Diagnosing reasons for failure
Dismantling and assembly techniques
Removal and fitting of precision components
Knowledge of rotating machines advantageous- BS standards
3. EXPERIENCE
Experience in heavy engineering or similar environment required.
Minimum of 3 years' experience working as a Workshop/Bench Fitter or similar.
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering or related discipline
