Our state-of-the-art Production Facility located in North West London is seeking skilled and dedicated Bench Joiners to join our dynamic team on a long-term basis.

Key Responsibilities

Material Preparation and Fabrication

: Accurately measure, cut, and shape a variety of materials, including hardwoods, softwoods, plywood, MDF, laminates, and other composite materials, ensuring precision in accordance with detailed project specifications.

Assembly and Installation

: Construct, assemble, and install a wide range of joinery components, such as bespoke doors, cabinets, shelving units, furniture, and architectural fixtures, ensuring seamless integration into residential, commercial, or industrial settings.

Hardware Installation

: Fit and install hardware components, including hinges, handles, locks, drawer runners, and other fittings, ensuring functionality, durability, and aesthetic alignment with project requirements.

Quality Assurance

: Conduct thorough quality checks to ensure all joinery work meets the highest standards of craftsmanship, aligns with client specifications, and complies with industry safety regulations and building codes.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance

: Safely operate and maintain a range of joinery tools and machinery, such as table saws, band saws, planers, routers, and sanders, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols.

Collaboration and Coordination

: Work closely with other tradespeople, including carpenters, electricians, and designers, to ensure seamless project execution and timely completion of tasks.

Problem Resolution

: Identify and troubleshoot issues during fabrication or installation, applying creative and practical solutions to maintain project timelines and quality standards.

Documentation and Reporting

: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including material usage, time spent, and any deviations from original plans, to support project management and client communication.
Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Proficiency

: Extensive experience using a wide range of joinery tools and machinery, including hand tools (chisels, planes, etc.) and power tools (circular saws, jigsaws, drills, etc.), with a strong emphasis on safety and precision.

Material Knowledge

: In-depth understanding of various types of wood (e.g., oak, maple, pine, walnut), engineered wood products, and other materials used in joinery, including their properties, applications, and finishing techniques.

Blueprint Interpretation

: Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs, ensuring accurate translation of plans into finished products.

Precision and Attention to Detail

: Exceptional focus on precision in measuring, cutting, and assembling components, with a commitment to delivering flawless, high-quality craftsmanship.

Problem-Solving Abilities

: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address challenges during fabrication or installation, such as material defects, design discrepancies, or site-specific constraints.

Teamwork and Communication

: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and clients, ensuring clear understanding of project requirements and expectations.

Time Management

: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workloads efficiently, and meet project deadlines without compromising quality.

Physical Stamina

: Capability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, standing for extended periods, and working in various environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications

NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery, or equivalent vocational training/certification. Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bench joinery or a related field, preferably in a production or workshop environment. Familiarity with modern joinery techniques, such as CNC machining or CAD/CAM software, is a plus. Valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or willingness to obtain one.
