Bench Joiner/Machinist

About Us:

We are a reputable construction company based in Whitstable, Kent, with our own fully equipped in-house carpentry workshop. Specializing in high-quality carpentry products for commercial fit-outs; we work on a wide range of projects, including pub fit-outs, hotel refurbishments, and other commercial spaces.

We are seeking an experienced bench joiner/machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in producing bespoke joinery products for commercial fit-outs, particularly in sectors like pubs, hotels, and restaurants. You will play a key role in producing high-quality carpentry work in the workshop for our ongoing projects and will occasionally assist with the installation of your work on-site. You will be expected to produces bespoke joinery items, from bars, screens, fixed seating and shelving.

Key Responsibilities:

Produce a wide range of bespoke joinery pieces, including bars, screens, bookshelves, cabinets and shelving for pub fit-outs, hotel refurbishments, and other commercial properties. Operate woodworking machinery (saws, routers, planers, etc.) to cut, shape, and finish timber and board materials to precise specifications. Ensure all items meet the high standards of craftsmanship, finish, and durability required for commercial environments. Work to strict deadlines, ensuring that carpentry products are completed on time for integration into commercial projects. Occasionally assist our site team with the installation of carpentry products, ensuring correct fitting and finish on-site for pubs, hotels, and other commercial properties.

Skills & Experience Required:

Proven experience as a Bench Joiner/Machinist, with a strong portfolio of work in commercial fit-outs (pubs, hotels, restaurants, etc.). Extensive experience using woodworking machinery and hand tools to create high-quality pieces. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project specifications. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality craftsmanship. Ability to meet deadlines and manage your time effectively in a fast-paced environment. Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.

Desirable:

Experience with on-site installation of carpentry products for commercial spaces. Full UK driving license (for occasional travel to installation sites).
