An exciting opportunity has become available to join NHS Long Term Care Team with it's responsibility as Supervisory Body as a Best InterestAssessor.
The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) by working with Hywel Dda Supervisory Body and Managing Authority to ensure that Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) assessments are completed appropriately, to a high standard and within set timescales; that the relevant paperwork and reports have been completed; and that the legislative requirements are met.
Main duties of the job
They will also carry out assessments and reviews under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards 2007 (Amendment to Mental Capacity Act 2005) toestablish if a person is being deprived of their liberty, in the person's best interests, necessary to prevent harm to themselves and also aproportionate response to the likelihood of the relevant person suffering harm and the seriousness of that harm.
On completion of the assessment and review the post holder will make recommendations and conditions, if applicable, for the authorisation to the Supervisory Body in order to promote the least restrictive practice and maximise peoples' independence and rights.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • Degree level or equivalent experience in a health / social care discipline
  • Valid registration for one of the following professions: - Nursing (first level) - Occupational Therapy - Social worker - Chartered Psychologist
  • Evidence of recent CPD / management development to postgraduate diploma level
  • Accredited BIA qualification Knowledge of current MCA/ MHA policy issues
  • Knowledge of Vulnerable Adult Policy
  • Computer literate
  • Demonstrate knowledge of legislation, policies and guidance regarding adults
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and the supporting Code of Practice
