About the Role
We're looking for a BI Engineer who thrives on solving complex data challenges and delivering solutions that empower decision-making to join our growing Data & Analytics team.
In this role, you'll be responsible for designing and managing data architecture, building scalable pipelines, and transforming data into clear, compelling visualisations. You'll work across a range of data sources from CRM and digital to social and research and use tools like PowerBI, Looker, or Tableau to deliver insight-led dashboards to clients.
You'll also play a key role in enabling organisational change, collaborating with senior stakeholders and helping drive Gemba's thought leadership in the 1st party data and analytics space.
Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Engineering
Conduct architecture reviews and recommend scalable, secure solutions
Build and maintain data pipelines, cloud-based workflows, and integrations
Connect and manage data across multiple sources, ensuring accuracy and integrity
Analytics & Visualisation
Translate business requirements into well-structured dashboards and visual reports
Create data models that support performance tracking, fan engagement, and campaign analysis
Use platforms like PowerBI, Looker, or Tableau to communicate insights to clients
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with Strategy, Insights and Creative teams to support client delivery
Document technical processes clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences
Partner with internal and client stakeholders to deliver scalable BI solutions
About You
Experience & Background
4+ years' experience in BI, data engineering or analytics roles
Strong technical capability in Python, SQL, and GitHub
Experience with cloud platforms (particularly Google Cloud Platform)
Tertiary qualifications in computer science, mathematics, engineering, or a related field
Experience in agency or fast-paced environments
Experience managing technical debt and automation workflows
A passion for sport, entertainment, and shaping fan experiences through data
Skills & Tools
Proficient in building and optimising data pipelines
Skilled in data visualisation using PowerBI, Looker or Tableau
Familiarity with cloud-native tools (e.g. GCP, AWS Lambda, Google Cloud Functions)
Deep understanding of data quality, governance and version control
