Bid & Marketing Manager
to join our team based at our Ashbourne Head Office or Derby Regional Office on a permanent basis.
The
Bid and Marketing Manager
is responsible for planning, coordinating and producing high-quality bids and proposals, while leading marketing activity that positions the business to win work in the civil engineering sector. The role works closely with directors, project managers and estimators to convert opportunities into successful tenders and to strengthen the company's brand and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities:
Bid Delivery
: Lead end-to-end bid management for public and private sector civil engineering opportunities, from opportunity tracking and go/no-go through to submission and post-bid review.
PQQ and ITT Management
: Oversee the preparation, submission, and monitoring of all
Pre-Qualification Questionnaires
(PQQs) and
Invitation to Tender
(ITTs) submissions.
Bid Strategy & Development
: Develop winning themes, identify opportunities, and manage the bid strategy to increase our chances of success. Coordinate inputs from technical, commercial and project delivery teams to develop compliant, compelling and commercially robust tender responses.
Targets and Time Management:
Own and manage the bid programme, including timelines, clarification questions, risk registers, document control and submission logistics (portals, hard copy, presentations).
Ability to Bid Write:
Take the lead and drive the bid writing content and narrative direction.
Marketing and Proposal Materials
: Take ownership of marketing and bid materials, ensuring they reflect our brand and meet client expectations. Produce marketing materials such as capability statements, brochures, newsletters and project profiles in collaboration with internal stakeholders and any external designers.
Digital Marketing:
Manage the company's digital presence (website, LinkedIn and other agreed channels), including content planning, posting and basic analytics reporting.
Team Leadership
: Mentor and guide the Bid Writer, ensuring continuous development and upskilling within the team.
Risk Management
: Work closely with the commercial team to assess and manage risks related to tendering and bidding.
Client Communication
: Engage with clients, ensuring that all bid proposals meet their needs and showcase our capabilities.
Key Requirements:
Experience
: Previous experience in a Bid Manager role within the
construction or civil engineering
sectors is preferred; however, those looking for the next step up will be considered.
Civil Engineering Knowledge
: Familiarity with civil engineering projects and processes is advantageous but not essential.
Communication
: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively.
Attention to Detail
: High level of accuracy and detail-oriented to ensure that submissions are of the highest quality.
IT Proficiency
: Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) are required. Experience of PDF Editor and Canva are advantageous.
Teamwork
: A proactive team player with excellent leadership and collaboration skills.
