About the role:



The

Bids & Proposals Engineer

plays a pivotal role in supporting the company's growth by managing the complete lifecycle of Requests for Information (RFIs) and Requests for Quotation (RFQs). This includes the preparation and submission of competitive, accurate, and fully compliant bid proposals tailored to client requirements.

In this role, the Bids & Proposals Engineer will lead the coordination of all activities related to RFIs and RFQs--from initial review and analysis through to final submission. Working closely with cross-functional teams, they will evaluate project requirements, gather technical inputs, and develop cost-effective, commercially viable proposals.

This role requires a proactive mindset, excellent analytical and communication skills, and a strong understanding of both technical and commercial elements of project delivery. The successful candidate will thrive in a deadline-driven environment and will be passionate about producing winning bids that contribute to the company's continued success.

The main responsibilities will include:

Receiving and reviewing RFI and RFQ Customer Documentation from the Sales Team to Fully Understand the Scope of Work and Potential Risks Collaborating with internal stakeholders, such as Sales, Operations, Commercial and subject matter experts, to gather information to develop cost estimates Updating Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database Developing compelling and persuasive bid content, including executive summaries, value propositions, pricing models and technical responses Coordinating and facilitating bid review meetings to ascertain bid/ no bid decisions Participating, as needed, in client meetings and negotiation sessions to secure favourable terms and conditions while focusing on profitability Ensuring all aspects comply with the company ISO accreditations Ensuring full compliance with the company IT security policies

About the person:



To be a successful candidate for this role you must be able to demonstrate the below attributes and skillsets:

Qualification/ Education

Level 3 (ONC/ A levels/ Apprenticeship or equivalent) A - C/ 4-9 in Engineering (Electrical Biased Desirable)

Technical Experience

Understanding and experience of working with Bill of Materials (BoM) Experience in bids & proposals or a similar role Demonstrated success in winning bids through effective proposal management Experience of managing Pre-Qualification Questionnaires (PQQ's) Strong understanding of the bid lifecycle, proposal writing, development and contract negotiations Experience in using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Teams etc)

Proactive approach to liaising with customers Strong communication and stakeholder management skills Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment Experience to work both independently and as part of a team Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to build rapport and close business opportunities Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines Full UK driving licence and a valid passport with no travel restrictions

Experience of Managing Bids for Complex Projects or Large-Scale Contracts
