About the Role
As Billing Manager for our electricity business, you will lead the setup and ongoing management of billing operations as we enter the electricity market. This is a newly created role, critical to ensuring accurate, compliant, and customer-focused billing processes from day one. You'll work closely with internal teams and external partners to build scalable systems and deliver a seamless billing experience. Supporting the company's mission of first class customer experience for homes and businesses, you will develop working practices that provide best-practice solutions for the company and customer, to make firmus energy the supplier of choice.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, implementation, development and management of electricity billing processes and systems.
Manage and oversee all revenue protection activities, ensuring the business is protected from error and fraud.
Ensure billing accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with electricity market regulations.
Drive Billing initiatives and strategic projects, identifying opportunities for improvements and implementing those solutions within the billing operation.
Develop strategic partnerships across the firmus energy management team, working closely with other internal departments to promote a culture of communication, continuous improvement and teamwork.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors and regulatory bodies as needed. Management of external contracts with service providers and contractors, including SLAs, budget monitoring, procurement and contract preparation and negotiation.
Monitor billing performance metrics and resolve discrepancies or issues promptly.
Manage and support the Billing Operations teams, identifying development needs and delivering effective performance management.
Recruit and develop a high-performing billing team as the business scales.
Prepare billing-related reports, audits, and forecasts for senior leadership.

Skills & Experience
Proven experience in electricity billing operations at management level.
Strong understanding of market messaging, regulatory compliance, and billing systems.
Experience in management of external agencies and 3rd party contracts.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
Familiarity with CRM and ERP systems used in the energy sector.
Desirable
Experience with dual-fuel billing environments.
Experience in setting up new billing functions or leading transformation projects.
Knowledge of customer lifecycle and revenue assurance processes
