About the role
To cover for a period of maternity leave commencing next spring, we are looking for a experienced legal biller to join our Billing Team on an interim basis. We would like this role to have a comfortable handover at the start and end, so we are looking for someone to join in January or February. The contract is likely to last at least 14 months.
This is primarily an operational role and you will be expected to process legal bills alongside the other 4 team members. As a supervisor you will not be a formal line manager, but you will also have responsibilities to train, develop and oversee the work of your team members, acting as a sounding board and escalation point where needed as a subject matter expert . As such this is a great opportunity for an experienced and technically strong legal biller looking to develop their people management skills.
Your billing duties will include:
Producing and preparing pre-bills within strict SLA timelines, liaising with internal stakeholders where necessary
Attending billing meetings with the partners and revenue controllers, where appropriate, to take instruction and prepare invoices (using our Aderant software) for review by partners
Responding to all billing related queries promptly
Ensuring bills are finalised and despatched to the partner and PA promptly
Escalating issues to and seeking authorisation from the Revenue Manager as appropriate
Raising credit notes and writing off WIP and disbursements in accordance with our policies
Client and matter data management relating to rates and discounts, recorded time etc.
Supporting the wider Revenue Team with ad-hoc requests
About you
Experience of working in a billing role in a UK law firm is an essential requirement for this role as you need not only general financial knowledge relating to VAT and disbursements etc, it is also essential that you have a thorough working knowledge and experience of applying the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
You will also need great people skills, both to help support and develop your colleagues and to be able to adapt your style to the needs and expectations of different partners.

We operate a discretionary hybrid working model allowing 2 days per week working from home. We offer an attractive remuneration package including 25 days holiday (plus birthdays off), private medical insurance, permanent health insurance, parking for our Cheltenham office and more from your first day of employment.
