About the role


We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Laboratory Technician to join Oxford Cancer, a city-wide research initiative and partnership between Oxford University, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, Thames Valley Cancer Alliance, and the Oxfordshire Clinical Commissioning Group. This post will form part of the Oxford Cancer Experimental Medicine Unit. As part of our Experimental Cancer Medicines vision, we seek to support a range of cancer research through providing laboratory-based researchers with access to high quality analysis clinical samples and model systems to help develop novel therapies and diagnostics.

The post holder will be part of a team of laboratory technicians working in multiple laboratories, delivering a range of techniques (including those delivered in line with GCP and ISO15189 standards) as the priorities of the team change. Aspects of this work are associated with patient stratification and primary clinical end points, so will require to be delivered according to Good Clinical Practice.

This post is based at Oxford Cancer, Radiobiology Research Institute, Churchill Hospital, OX3 7LE, and is offered on a full-time fixed-term basis until 31st December 2027.

About you


You will have experience with the majority of the techniques and methods listed in the Responsibilities section of the job description, and will have proven experience of working in a clinical, molecular, biochemistry or biomedical laboratory. You will have experience working as part of a technical team across multiple projects and platforms, and will be comfortable prioritising and managing a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment.

You will be confident in working under pressure while maintaining a high degree of accuracy, with excellent record keeping and good technical and communication skills.

Experience in using digital Quality Management and Laboratory Management systems and consenting patients to clinical trials would be advantageous.
