We are now offering a fantastic opportunity to join our friendly and dedicated Haematology & Blood Transfusion team at the Hammersmith Hospital site.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for this band 6 Specialist BMS role in the Haematology &Transfusion Lab within the Hammersmith Hospital site of NWLP.
In this role, you would encounter a wide range of interesting cases on a daily basis; you would be part of the BMS team running the routine section in Haematology with exciting blood film morphology for a wide range of conditions.
In our Blood Transfusion Department, you would be fully engaged with special requirement crossmatching to support our busy Clinical Haematology Unit. In Special Coagulation centralised on this site, you would have a unique advantage of carrying out very specialist analyses in the field of haemostasis.
The laboratory also operates a 24-hour-seven- day -a-week service and therefore full participation on the roster is required for all contractual Weekend and Late evening shifts.
It is an essential requirement that applicants are HCPC state registered with a significant post registration experience in an ISO 15189 accredited laboratory. The successful candidate should also demonstrate excellent communication & organisational skills with a keen desire to learn in addition to possessing a sound knowledge of Haematology and Transfusion to meet the demands and requirements highlighted.
Collaborate effectively within the department to deliver a professional clinical laboratory service.
Perform core scientific and interpretive work in line with the qualifications of a Registered Healthcare Scientist.
Participate in appropriate training courses and continuous professional development (CPD) programs.
Supervise unqualified staff and deputise for section leaders as needed.
Provide specialist clinical technical services, including involvement in research and audit activities.
Delivery of comprehensive diagnostic services while maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

NWLP Induction
The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.
