Job Description
We are seeking a warm, proactive and reliable Boarding House Assistant to join our dedicated boarding team at Westbourne. You will help create a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment for our students, playing a vital role in their wellbeing, daily routines, and personal development while assisting in the smooth running of the boarding houses.
What you'll do
Support students' welfare, wellbeing, and personal growth. Maintain routines, discipline, and a caring, friendly atmosphere. Be a visible and approachable presence within the house. Ensure house security, daily checks, and curfews. Administer first aid and medicines as required. Help organise and supervise activities, mealtimes, and events. Assist with student travel, records, and general boarding administration. Support daily routines, cleanliness, and student inductions.
The role
Part-time, 36 weeks per year
(mainly term-time).Working pattern:
4 nights cover every 10 days, including days, evenings, and weekends - from Thursday at 16:00 until Monday at 09:30 Flexibility is essential to cover school events and term patterns (e.g. final weekend of term, IB2 departure dates, house set-up/close-down, and time off in lieu).About you
We're looking for someone who is:
Caring, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with young people. Proactive, with good organisational and communication skills. Reliable, flexible, and able to work as part of a close-knit team in a residential setting.
