'House Parent' at the International School of Creative Arts in GB is a vital role responsible for providing a safe, supportive, and enriching living environment for students. This position contributes to the well-being and development of young creatives, aligning with ISCA's mission to foster artistic talent.
Responsibilities
Stay in boarding house communal areas during nominated hours of duty.
Reside in official accommodation during silent hours (23:00 to 7:30) and respond to calls/ alarms in line with protocols.
Have breakfast with students at 7:45 to 8:15 during week days and at 8:30 to 9:00am at weekends.
Set an exemplary personal standard of dress, behaviour and personal hygiene.
As part of the boarding team, maintain House discipline.
Support fellow boarding staff in the cultivation of good manners and courtesy.
Provide first aid, initial medical support and the safe administration of medication to students.
Monitor and record the administration of medication (prescription and non-prescription) to students as required.
Assist with booking medical appointments and accompany students when and if necessary.
Keep all medical records accurate and up-to-date including (but not limited to)
medications, immunisations, medical appointments, dietary needs, ailments and allergies.
Ensure information on the dietary needs, ailments and/ or allergies of students is shared with staff on a need-to-know basis, in particular the chefs and group leaders of trips and outings.
Ensure the accident and incident register is accurate and up-to-date.
Assist the Welfare Tutor as required to develop Individual Care Plans, Safety Plans and PEEPs.
Conduct the termly health and safety audits for all boarding areas, including the common room.
Do room checks on a regular basis and report any Health and Safety concerns (e.g. unsafe use of cooking equipment); check for any damage or repairs required for maintenance and report the observations to the School and Boarding Administrator.
Assist the School and Boarding Administrator in reviewing the boarding risk assessment.
Participate in a programme of continual risk assessment within the Campus as required by Health and Safety guidelines.
Assist in arranging and overseeing departure and arrival of students.
Monitor and authorise Leave Request Forms for students.
Work closely with the with fellow boarding staff ensuring the smooth handover at boarding shifts.
Ensure that the presence of students is checked and reported regularly, at times set for registration, and report any missing students to the Head of School.
Organise recreational activities for students while on campus after academic time and participate in external school trips.
Oversee detention sessions during weekends.
Studio duties:open up and lock up studios, ensure that students use ISCA equipment and facilities in an appropriate manner, and that they leave studios tidy and clean.
Work closely with the with fellow boarding staff ensuring the smooth handover at boarding shifts.
Undertake such other duties as the Executive Director and Head of School may require.

Carry out all duties with an awareness and understanding of the Safeguarding requirements within the area of responsibility. Work complies with all safeguarding policies and procedures that apply to the role. Behaviours and actions support the safeguarding of children and young people as appropriate.

The role of the Boarding Houseparent involves significant contact with children and young people (frequent interaction and responsibility for their welfare) and includes engaging in regulated activity. The safeguarding responsibilities of the post include:
Submitting a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Check.* Training in Safeguarding (to identify signs of abuse or neglect, understand reporting procedures, and know how to act if a child is at risk).* Adherence to ISCA Safeguarding Policies (understanding what steps to take if there are concerns about a child's safety or well-being).*
