Approximately a third of our students board at EMS, coming from right across the South West of England. What unites them is a love of maths and its applications, but they are a diverse mix and at 16, the vast majority are staying away from home for the first time. You will work with a team of boarding tutors to provide a safe, supportive and welcoming home for our students. Throughout their time at the school, you will support boarding students to developing the living skills they need to thrive at university and beyond.
Boarding is a vital part of our provision - it enables us to provide a specialist education for those who would otherwise struggle to access it. More can be read about our boarding on our website: Exeter Maths School | Weekly Boarding.
You don't need to be a keen mathematician to take on this role (we've got plenty of teachers who have that covered), we need you to provide the pastoral support and guidance our young people need during this time of transition from child to adult.
EMS is fully committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all the young people we work with and expect you to be too. All appointments are subject to satisfactory DBS checks, together with the receipt of references.
