Key Responsibilities:
Sales and Purchase Ledger: Process invoices, payments, and receipts. Monitor and manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payment of bills and invoices. Prepare and send invoices to customers and clients and follow up on overdue payments.
Bank Reconciliation: Regularly reconcile bank statements with the company's financial records to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies or errors.
Process timesheets before sending to payroll.
Advantageous Skills/knowledge:
VAT Returns: Prepare and submit VAT returns to HMRC
Financial Reporting: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, on a regular basis or as required. Provide accurate financial reports to management, enabling informed decision-making.
Data Analysis: Analyse financial data and reports to identify trends, patterns, and discrepancies. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial analysis.
Financial Administration: Support financial administration tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking. Assist in financial audits and ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
Skills
Proven work experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
Proficiency in accounting software and tools - Xero an advantage but not essential
Strong knowledge of bookkeeping principles, practices, and procedures
Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational and time management abilities
Solid understanding of tax regulations and payroll processes
Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information
Good communication skills for liaising with team members and external stakeholders
