We are a growing solar installation company based in Canterbury, specialising in the design and installation of renewable energy systems across the South East. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage our day-to-day financial operations and ensure our accounts remain accurate and up to date.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing bookkeeping processes in Xero, preparing and filing VAT returns, and supporting the management team with timely financial information. This is a full-time, office-based role and would suit someone with a strong accounting background who enjoys working in a busy and growing business environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records using Xero Accounting Software
Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, bank reconciliations, and expense claims
Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns in compliance with HMRC requirements
Manage accounts payable and receivable
Maintain financial data integrity and ensure all records are up to date
Liaise with external accountants where required
Assist in preparing management reports and financial summaries
Requirements:
Proven bookkeeping experience (minimum 2 years preferred)
Strong working knowledge of Xero (essential)
Experience preparing and filing VAT returns
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Strong understanding of accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and general IT systems
Working Hours:
Full-time, Monday to Friday
Based at our Canterbury office (office-based role only)
