Job Description

Evans & Co Hospitality Accountants are a boutique accounting practice based in Liverpool, specialising exclusively in Limited Companies within the hospitality and catering sector. We work with a deliberately small client base to deliver a high-quality, high-support service- not volume-driven compliance (we only work with around 55 companies).

We are now looking for an experienced

part-time Bookkeeper

to join our team for 3 days per week (22.5 hours). The role is hybrid and would suit an experienced individual who is able to work independently as the role is fully flexible in terms of working arrangements. You must be able to travel to L13 6RQ for the occasional check-in and for the first few months of the role to get up to speed.

We're fully flexible on work hours, days, and location- we focus on deadlines, not timesheets. Our current team choose their own days and times that they work to fit around their personal lives. Our team now includes accountants, bookkeepers, payroll specialists, an Operations Manager, and a Management Accountant. We focus on providing a premium service to our clients rather than being volume driven.

Who We're Looking For



To be considered for this role, you

must

have:

At least 2 years' experience working in an accountancy or bookkeeping practice

Practical experience using Xero in a client-facing environment


We are not able to consider applicants without these two essentials.

Key Responsibilities:


You will typically look after

8-12 clients

(depending on size) and be responsible for core bookkeeping and compliance tasks, including:

Processing receipts and payments Issuing invoices, statements, and remittances Recording financial transactions accurately Ledger management and

bank reconciliations

Balance sheet reconciliations (essential)

Preparing, checking, and filing VAT returns Preparing sole trader accounts Preparing Limited Company accounts up to Trial Balance Dealing with client and supplier queries as they arise Completing journal entries and adjustments Optional: supporting with Self Assessment returns (not required but beneficial)
Note: You will

not be responsible for management accounts or debtor chasing.

Package:



Salary of 28,000-32,500 FTE

(pro rata to 3 days per week: 16,800-19,500) 22 days plus 8 bank holidays with the option to work the bank holiday and take it elsewhere. Further training, qualifications, and advancement for the right candidate A 10% recurring monthly revenue share on any clients brought into the firm for as long as you work with us. Required Skills & Experience



Practical experience using Xero

(essential) Minimum

2 years' experience

in an accountancy or bookkeeping practice (essential) Journal entries Adjustments

Balance sheet reconciliations

Able to prepare and file VAT returns Able to complete accounts to Trial Balance Process-driven- our team contributes actively to improving and documenting internal processes Outcome-focused -- we don't bill based on time

Preferred Skills & Experience



Experience with other cloud-based tools (e.g., Client Engager, Apron, etc) Experience working with or within the hospitality industry (advantageous, not required) Experience preparing Self Assessment returns (advantageous, not required)

Working Pattern



Part-time: 3 days per week / 22.5 hours

Hours can be arranged flexibly -- we focus on outcomes, not timesheets Must be able to work from the Liverpool office (L13 6RQ) periodically Must attend the office more frequently during the first few months for onboarding and training
