Al-Meezan is a faith-based charity in Glasgow, G41 5DL dedicated to serving the Muslim community by offering quality Islamic education primarily for women and children.
We are currently looking to employ an experienced Bookkeeper to maintain accurate financial records of the Charity. If you are an organized and confident individual with strong numerical skills and attention to detail, then this role would be perfect for you.
Note: Al Meezan is faith-based organisation for women and children. The ideal candidate would be a MUSLIM female who is practising and understands the ethos and values of Al Meezan.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate Financial Records and Systems of the Charity using Xero Accounting Software.
Check and process high-volume automated reconciliations
Process Invoices, Bill Payments and Departmental Expenses using relevant Account Codes whilst maintaining an accurate filing system.
Bank Lodgement Coding & Processing
Process Petty Cash using Xero Accounting Software and Reconcile Balance
Manage Budgets using Excel Spreadsheets
Liaise with the External Accountant and supply information for Audit
Ensure Internal Financial Controls and financial-legislative requirements are followed at all times.
Provide continuous input to improve processes and procedures to allow the department to be run as effectively as possible.
Key Skills & Attributes Required:
Educated to degree level in Finance or Accounting or a relevant Financial Qualification such as AAT
Proven work experience as a Finance Assistant/Bookkeeper within a similar role
Experience of using a Financial System to manage Financial Records
Self-motivated and confident
Highly organised and diligent
Excellent Numerical Skills including Excel
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Relevant training and/or certifications
Be proactive in ensuring that best practice is followed throughout all of Al-Meezan.

The Selected Candidate will report to the Chairperson who will be their Line Manager, however use their own initiative to manage and prioritise workload.
