We are looking for an experienced and detail-driven Bookkeeper who can take ownership of day-to-day financial administration while also supporting the business with credit control tasks. This role suits someone who is highly organised, accurate, and confident managing accounts, reconciliations, and customer payment processes. The successful candidate will play a key role in keeping our finances running smoothly and our records fully up to date.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping Duties:
Maintain accurate financial records and bookkeeping entries.
Process and reconcile sales and purchase invoices.
Complete bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are coded correctly.
Strong knowledge of VAT Returns, RTI submissions & invoice reconciliation.
Proficient in accounting software Xero
Strong IT skills. Excel, Google sheets, producing detailed, clear and accurate spreadsheets.
Monitor and report on company expenditure, producing year-on-year comparisons if required.
Prepare routine financial reports, including cashflow, profit/loss updates, and monthly summaries.
Support with month-end procedures and ad-hoc financial tasks.
Credit Control Duties:
Proactively chase outstanding and overdue invoices, ensuring timely payment from customers.
Send statements, payment reminders, and follow up on email/telephone queries.
Maintain clear debtor records, including notes on conversations and promises to pay.
Produce and maintain aged debtors reports and highlight concerns to management.
Resolve discrepancies or invoice queries professionally and promptly.
Skills & Experience Required
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar finance role.
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT, and invoice reconciliation.
Proficient in bookkeeping/accounting software and confident using spreadsheets.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to chase debts professionally but firmly.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritise workload and work independently across the two chosen days.
