We are a small, friendly accounting practice dedicated to providing reliable, accurate, and personable financial services to our clients. As our client base grows, we are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper & Payroll Assistant to join our team and support our day-to-day operations.
The Role
We're seeking someone who is confident managing bookkeeping tasks and processing payroll with accuracy and efficiency. You will work closely with senior staff, support client queries, and help ensure our accounts and payroll services run smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a variety of clients
Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Reconcile bank accounts and manage supplier/customer ledgers
Assist with year-end preparation
Handle client queries professionally and promptly
Support the wider team with ad-hoc accounting tasks
Requirements
Proven experience in bookkeeping and payroll (practice experience preferred)
Strong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Good understanding of payroll legislation and HMRC processes
Excellent attention to detail and time-management skills
Confident communicator with a positive, proactive attitude
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
