We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our fire & security team in Hanham, Bristol. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts and credit control, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. This role is crucial for the smooth financial operation of our organisation, and the successful applicant will have a strong background in accurate accounting using Sage 50 Professional, and have good knowledge and understanding of Excel.
Duties
Maintain and update financial records in accounting software using Sage 50 Professional.
Process accounts payable and ensure timely payments to suppliers and vendors.
Reconcile bank statements and manage cash flow effectively.
Prepare financial reports and summaries for management review.
Assist with budget preparation and forecasting activities.
Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
Provide support in the preparation of tax returns and other statutory obligations.
Posting of wage journals, with a possible view on taking on payroll duties.
Qualifications
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar role within finance or accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Sage 50.
Strong understanding of accounts payable processes and general accounting principles.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
A relevant qualification in accounting or finance is preferred but not essential.
