Horizons Residential Care Limited is a well-established residential childcare provider based in the East Coast of Scotland and has been providing residential childcare service since 2013.

The company has undergone major restructuring since 2020 with a view to enhance the standards and quality of care provision to our Service Users and Local Authorities across the UK. The company has recently acquired new premises and have opened new residential facilities in Edinburgh and the Lothians. We are recruiting Book-Keeper/Finance Officer to assist the company's senior management team with accurate record keeping of general financial transactions.



We are looking for a Bookkeeper/Finance Officer to support our Head Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in working in a busy office environment, taking responsibility for routine bookkeeping, bills receivables and payables, assisting in payroll, and providing overall administration support to the finance team. The ability to prioritise and multitask will be an invaluable asset. You will provide high quality, flexible and responsive support for a wide range of Finance activities including but not limited to routine bookkeeping, payroll processing, processing and issuing invoices, processing receipts and expenses.

Independent worker who is self-motivated Forward thinking and extremely organised Ability to prioritise a busy workload Great IT skills Proficient in MS Office Suite Excellent verbal and written communication skills Attention to detail Proactive approach Ability to organise meetings, appointments and manage diaries Managing filing system and archiving Liaise with Managers and Supervisors in maintaining accurate records of Leave Knowledge on SSP, SMP and pension schemes etc. Assisting in Timesheet checks and payroll Maintain all Bookkeeping records Maintain Petty Cash Records Keep accurate records for all daily transactions Update internal systems with financial data Prepare and process invoices Record accounts payable and accounts receivable Reconcile bank statements Participate in internal financial audits Assist in administration tasks relating to finance such as filing systems Assist in reviewing and implementing financial policies Assist with budget preparation Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports Assist in preparing balance sheets & Profit and Loss Assist in preparing Management Accounts Assist in preparing HMRC Returns Maintaining inventory of machinery and equipment
Duties-

- Manage accounts payable processes and ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices
- Review and reconcile vendor statements
- Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records
- Prepare and process expense reports
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Generate financial reports as needed
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve any billing or payment discrepancies

Experience:

- Proven experience as a bookkeeper or in a similar role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Proficient in using SAGE software and MS Office Suite (especially Excel)

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications- Degree in Accountancy or other relevant discipline

Salary: 26,000.00-32,000.00 p.a. (Pro Rata) (Placement on salary scale dependent on Qualifications and Experience)
