Bookkeeper / Finance Officer (Part-Time Contractor)



Location:

Scotland (Remote)

Hours:

7 hours per week - Mondays 10:00am to 1:00pm & Fridays 9:00am to 1:00pm

Rate:

600 per month (fixed, contractor)

The Role



This is a part-time contractor role, with fixed weekly hours. You'll take ownership of our bookkeeping and finance processes, supporting senior management with:

Bookkeeping in Xero Bills receivable and payable Payroll VAT returns Payment runs Financial reporting and analysis
You'll also:

Suggest improvements to systems and support process changes Create and update financial "how-to" documentation Provide responsive admin support via WhatsApp Work collaboratively to support and celebrate the team's efforts

Key Responsibilities



Reconcile all transactions in Xero on a weekly basis Process invoices, payments, expenses, payroll journals, and VAT records Manage bills receivable and payable Run supplier and team payment runs Prepare and share weekly finance updates (bank balance, outstanding invoices, key movements) Support monthly reporting (Profit & Loss, Cash Flow, simple forecasts) Provide commentary on key figures (trends, risks, opportunities) Prepare and review quarterly VAT returns Create and update financial "how-to" documentation as needed for continuity Respond to and resolve finance/admin requests from the team

About You



Proven experience as a bookkeeper or finance officer (Xero essential) Confident preparing and interpreting management accounts and forecasts Experience with payroll journals, VAT returns, and payment runs Organised, proactive, and detail-oriented Able to prioritise and multitask effectively Able to work independently to deadlines Responsive communicator via WhatsApp for all work related requests Able to suggest improvements to systems, support change to systems, and implement best practices A team player who values and supports colleagues, celebrating each other's work Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business environment

Contractor Status



This is a contractor role. You will be responsible for your own taxes and National Insurance contributions.
