Job Purpose:

As our

Car and Van Rental Manager

, you'll lead the day-to-day operations of our rental business. This hands-on role includes managing the rental team, overseeing our fleet, and ensuring that our customers receive a high-quality, personal service that reflects our family values. You'll play a key part in maintaining our excellent reputation and supporting our growth across both commercial and leisure rental sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Operations

Deliver a first-class rental experience from initial enquiry through to vehicle return Manage rental bookings, walk-ins, and business accounts professionally and efficiently Ensure all vehicles are prepared, cleaned, and maintained to the highest standards Handle customer queries, insurance claims, and complaints with care and discretion Experience with sales is preferrable. Ensuring you're able to go out into the community to obtain more business.

Team Leadership

Supervise and support our small, dedicated team of rental staff and valeters Lead by example, promoting a friendly, supportive, and efficient working culture Train new staff in rental procedures, customer care, and system use

Fleet & Logistics

Oversee the allocation, inspection, and turnaround of vehicles across our fleet Coordinate vehicle servicing, MOTs, damage repairs, and compliance checks Work closely with suppliers and garages to ensure vehicle availability and reliability

Business & Admin

Manage rental contracts, deposits, invoicing, and petty cash handling Maintain accurate records for insurance, driver checks, and vehicle inspections Support the directors in business reporting, performance tracking, and future planning Ensure compliance with BVRLA standards and UK rental regulations

What We're Looking For:

2+ years of experience in a car/van rental, fleet management, or automotive environment Strong leadership and customer service skills Reliable, hands-on, and confident working in a small team Excellent communication and organisational skills Comfortable with IT systems (Prohire preferred, Microsoft Office, email, etc.) Full UK Driving Licence (essential)

Desirable (Not Essential):

Familiarity with BVRLA and United Rental System standards Local area knowledge (Wirral, Chester, Ellesmere Port) Experience with campervan rental or leisure hire services Somebody who is confident with sales, to go out and obtain more business from local businesses.

Working Hours:

Monday to Friday: 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM Saturday: 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM (rota basis) Flexibility required during busy periods and holiday cover
