The department of the Vice-President External Engagement coordinates UCL's engagement with a range of audiences, raising the university's profile and influence, and managing its reputation. It promotes the public value of UCL's research and partnerships to the future of Britain and globally. It is a service-driven function made up of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.


About the role

In the run up to our bicentenary celebrations in 2026, we have undertaken extensive discovery work to develop our brand with a future-facing narrative that also reflects our past achievements and a refreshed visual identity. This significant strategic change initiative requires an experienced Brand Editorial Copywriter who can bring the new brand to life.



Reporting to the Senior Brand Creative Manager (VP External Engagement) they will develop and maintain the brand tone of voice, personality, uphold the new brand pillars and UCL narrative across all content. They will work on copy for our brand tools, resources, toolkits, brand webpages and Brand Sharepoint site, brand guidelines to engage and inspire audiences.



This is a full-time fixed term post and is available from 1 June 2025 to 31 July 2026.


About you

The successful candidate will have a bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field or equivalent work experience.



Proven experience as a copywriter, with a portfolio showcasing your ability to create compelling brand copy is essential.



Having strong writing and editorial skills, being able to review and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency and experience adhering to brand and editorial guidance, tone of voice guidelines, bringing to life brand pillars and personality, experience creating and delivering content strategies is essential.
