Part-Time Alterations Studio Assistant - Quality Control, Steaming & Dress Preparation To Start ASAP!

Are you meticulous, detail-oriented, and experienced in handling delicate bridal fabrics? Do you thrive in a bustling studio environment and enjoy ensuring every gown is picture-perfect? We're looking for a reliable individual to join our alterations team on a part-time basis!

This role is based in our alterations studio and involves a crucial blend of quality control, steaming, and preparing wedding dresses for their next steps. You'll work

one day a week (7 hours)

with the possibility of

overtime during busy periods

.

Your responsibilities will include:

Comprehensive Quality Control (QC):

Conducting thorough final inspections of altered and newly arrived wedding dresses, identifying any imperfections in seams, embellishments, fabric, and overall construction.

Detailed Checks:

Ensuring essential elements like bustles are correctly fitted, buttons and loops are secure, and hook and eye closures are fully functional.

Expert Steaming:

Professionally steaming a variety of delicate bridal fabrics (silks, laces, tulles, etc.) to eliminate creases and achieve a flawless presentation.

Basic Spot Cleaning:

Carefully addressing minor marks or blemishes on gowns.

Wedding Dress Preparation:

Once QC is complete, carefully and correctly bagging up wedding dresses to ensure they are protected and ready for second appointments, client collections, or delivery.

Alterations Studio Assistance:

Providing general support within the studio, which may include organizing gowns, preparing work areas, and assisting our seamstresses with ad-hoc tasks.

Efficient Time Management:

Managing your workload effectively to ensure all tasks are completed to a high standard within the allocated time.

The ideal candidate will possess:

Proven experience handling delicate fabrics, ideally within the bridal or couture industry. A sharp eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality. Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to work efficiently and independently. Experience with basic quality control checks for garments. The ability to follow instructions carefully and take pride in your work. A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to assist in various studio tasks. A genuine appreciation for the importance of a perfect wedding gown for our clients.
