About the role




A brief summary





Reporting to The Broadcast Engineering Manager and based at our site in West London. Working within a small team of broadcast engineers who are responsible for the business as usual support and technical workflows within the facility. You must have accountability and work well within a team. You will be able to communicate clearly, both written and verbal to technical colleagues and to non-technical partners.


What you'll be responsible for




Supporting a range of specialist systems including the following: Windows Mac OS Linux; EVS Systems: IPD, XSquare, XTs, XTAs, XFILE,; Avid Interplay Systems, Nexis, Media Composer clients; Aspera file acceleration services; Adobe Creative Suite, Kahuna Vision Mixers, EncodersDecoders Monitoring and optimizing the performance of media servers and storage systems, non-linear edit suites and file processing delivery facilities Providing first line system support to address technical faults in a timely manner Reviewing, developing and maintaining workflows to support the effective operation of Broadcast Engineering and Workflows at Gravity Media Westworks. Providing documentation for our areas of responsibility. Troubleshooting technical issues effectively and pragmatically. Planning and managing maintenance of systems and workflows in an efficient manner that considers the impact and risk to our clients as well as completing routine maintenance and regular system checks Escalating issues to stakeholders and communicate with vendor support as required Proactively supporting all media operations and other technical departments within Gravity Media Awareness of change control processes and risk assessment. H&S - Adhering to our company H&S policy and ensuring that all company risk assessments are observed where applicable to your role, taking ownership of improvements and escalating concerns where necessary. ISO - Contribute to the continual improvement of our management systems to ensure compliance with our legal obligations and maintain certification.

This role is for you if


To enable you to perform this role, you should be able to demonstrate the following as a minimum.
Have a clear understanding of the fundamentals of file-based editing workflows and various file transcoding, processing & delivery systems.
Experience of TCPIP networking infrastructure and multi-VLAN networks. Knowledge and experience of media, editing and general computer systems. Knowledge and awareness of IP-based video routing and SMPTE-2110 standards. Be pro-active and able to identify potential issues before they occur.
Work at high levels of technical complexity, under program andor operational pressures. Accept and work to internal business processes including rules and procedures that concern emailed communication, ticketing, auditing, documentation and change processes. Have a positive, enthusiastic manner with an ability to react tactfully and sympathetically to requests from all stakeholders Capable of delegating and distributing tasks to others in the engineering team. Ability to prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines. Shows willingness to train peers in areas which are necessary and encouraging development within the team. Adhering to our company H&S policy and ensuring that all company risk assessments are observed where applicable to your role, taking ownership of improvements and escalating concerns where necessary. Contribute to the continual improvement of our management systems to ensure compliance with our legal obligations and maintain certification.




Essential Requirements







Excellent problem-solving skills. Good interpersonal skills. An ability to work effectively under pressure to strict deadlines. Excellent attention to detail. Ability to work both alone and as part of a team, and to remain calm under pressure. Able to communicate effectively both written and verbal. Willingness to work unsociable hours when required, including weekends and evenings. Proactively supporting all media operations and other technical departments within Gravity Media Have a positive, enthusiastic manner with an ability to react tactfully and sympathetically to requests from all stakeholders Minimum of 2 year's experience working withing the broadcast industry. Educated to a suitable level within technical subjects. Good written and spoken English. Any relevant experience, employment or otherwise, within broadcast or related industry.
