MSFDN is a forward-thinking training provider and non profit organisation supporting underserved young people to access careers in the creative industries. As we expand our apprenticeship delivery, we are looking for an experienced
Broadcast & Media Technical Operator Tutor
with a passion for guiding the next generation of media professionals.
The Role
We are seeking a tutor with strong technical expertise in media production setups, ideally with a background in live broadcasts, multi-camera environments, studio installations, rigging, signal flow, or location shoots. This role is ideal for someone with industry experience looking to pass on their knowledge in a flexible and meaningful way.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging and accessible training sessions aligned to the Level 3 Broadcast & Media Technical Operator Apprenticeship Standard
Teach learners how to confidently set up and operate media technology and technical systems (e.g. lighting, sound, camera galleries, OB units, editing stations)
Provide practical demonstrations and guided practice across different technical set-up environments
Support learners to build industry-level portfolios and prepare for end-point assessments
Complete session planning, marking, learner feedback, and progress reviews
Liaise with the MSFDN apprenticeship team to ensure quality delivery and learner progress
Essential Requirements
Minimum 2 years' professional experience in broadcast, media production, or technical operations
Experience in technical setups: camera, lighting, AV rigs, sound systems, edit suites etc.
Passion for teaching, mentoring or developing emerging talent
Clear communication skills and ability to tailor technical knowledge for beginner learners
Commitment to inclusive teaching and supporting disadvantaged learners
Familiarity with the apprenticeship model (preferred but not essential)
