M-Solv Ltd, part of the CNI Group (a major Hong Kong-based materials science organization), designs and manufactures advanced additive and subtractive capital equipment used globally in industries such as semiconductor packaging, smart windows, PV panels, touch sensors, and biosensors. Based in Eynsham, Oxfordshire, M-Solv works closely with affiliates in China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.
Each customer tool order is managed and tracked as a project, typically running 3-6 months from order to delivery.
We are seeking a proactive, analytically-minded
Budget Analyst
with a strong finance background and a hands-on approach to support our UK Operations & Finance Director and act as a central contact for cross-border financial reporting, particularly with teams in China and Taiwan.
Role Summary
You will lead budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis across the business, ensuring high-quality and timely data is provided to management. The role includes close collaboration with UK project teams and finance/operations counterparts across the CNI Group. A strong grasp of modern budgeting tools, project cost analysis, and a continuous improvement mindset are essential.
Mandarin language skills are strongly preferred due to regular engagement with teams in China and Taiwan.
Key Responsibilities
Budgeting & Forecasting
Partner with the Operations & Finance Director to prepare annual and mid-year budgets, including P&L and cashflow forecasts.
Leverage modern forecasting tools such as rolling forecasts, driver-based models, and scenario planning to improve accuracy and agility.
Collaborate with department heads to compile bottom-up budgets for sales, cost of sales, R&D, labour, and overheads.
Automate budgeting and reporting processes where appropriate using Excel (advanced functions), Power Query, or BI tools.
Deliver regular rolling cashflow forecasts and sensitivity analyses.
Project Costing & Analysis
Monitor, analyse, and report on actual vs forecast project costs (materials and labour) on a weekly basis using Global Shop Solutions ERP.
Proactively identify cost overruns or inefficiencies in live projects and escalate potential risks and impact to timelines or margins.
Work closely with project and technical leads to update forecasts and suggest corrective actions to mitigate project financial risks.
Support pricing and quotation costing by analysing historical data, market trends, and production inputs.
Maintain accurate project cost reporting dashboards and KPIs.
Reporting & Business Support
Prepare monthly management accounts, performance analysis, and dashboards for internal stakeholders and Group reporting.
Act as the central UK contact for Group financial consolidation and reporting with colleagues in China and Taiwan.
Support the development of improved project and management reporting systems, including digitization and dashboard creation.
Assist with staff and labour utilisation reporting and provide insights to optimise workforce planning.
Provide ad hoc support to the Operations & Finance Director across finance and operations.
Qualifications and Experience
A qualified or part-qualified finance professional (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
Experience in manufacturing, engineering, or capital equipment sectors is highly desirable.
Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, Power Query), with working knowledge of BI/reporting tools preferred.
Comfortable working with ERP systems (Global Shop Solutions or similar).
Strong analytical and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge and advise cross-functional teams.
Fluent in English; Mandarin proficiency (spoken and written) is highly preferred due to regular interaction with international colleagues.

Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible start/finish times around core hours of 9am-4pm).
