Are you ready to apply your technical expertise to help shape a safer, more sustainable built environment?
If you're someone who thrives on problem-solving, enjoys working with technical detail, and takes pride in ensuring safety and compliance, this role could be perfect for you. You'll need a keen eye for detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders. If you're passionate about construction standards and want to make a real difference to the safety and quality of buildings in our community, we'd love to hear from you.
What's the role all about?
As a Building Control Surveyor, you'll play a vital role in ensuring that buildings across North East Lincolnshire meet the highest standards of safety, sustainability, and design. You'll be responsible for checking compliance with Building Regulations, advising developers and homeowners, and acting where necessary to protect public health and safety. This is a role that combines technical expertise with public service, helping to create safe, accessible, and energy-efficient spaces for everyone.
What will your day look like?
No two days are the same. One day you might be reviewing architects' plans and advising on compliance, the next you could be out on-site inspecting new developments or investigating dangerous structures. You'll manage a varied caseload, liaise with contractors and professionals, and occasionally respond to urgent issues as part of an out-of-hours rota. It's a dynamic role that requires flexibility, problem-solving, and a proactive approach to keeping our built environment safe.
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for a qualified professional with experience in Building Control and a solid understanding of construction methods and regulations. You'll need excellent communication skills to explain technical requirements clearly, strong ICT abilities, and the confidence to make decisions within your competence. Membership of a relevant professional body and registration with the Building Safety Regulator (or working towards it) is essential. Most importantly, you'll share our values of integrity, openness, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Why join us?
Joining our team means becoming part of a service that directly contributes to the safety, sustainability, and quality of the built environment in North East Lincolnshire. You will work within a professional and supportive setting where your expertise is valued and your decisions make a tangible impact on the community. We offer opportunities for continuous professional development, collaboration with skilled colleagues, and involvement in diverse projects that challenge and enhance your technical knowledge. If you are committed to excellence and share our values of integrity, openness, and improvement, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
