As a Building Maintenance Surveyor (M&E) with East Sussex County Council, you will play a key role in maintaining our diverse property portfolio. You will be responsible for developing, managing, and delivering both planned and reactive maintenance projects, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with statutory requirements. Using your technical expertise, you will assess M&E and general maintenance installations, specify, and oversee works, and provide technical advice to colleagues, contractors, and client departments.


This is a varied and rewarding role within our Property Maintenance team, contributing directly to the Council's commitment to providing safe, sustainable, and energy-efficient buildings. You will support carbon reduction initiatives, promote best practice, and help identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Your work will make a tangible difference to the performance and reliability of essential services across East Sussex's schools and corporate buildings.


We are looking for candidates who have:
RQF Level 6 qualification or equivalent in a relevant building discipline Ability to plan and organise a varied workload for self and others, working to short deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively with a range of people in a clear, concise and accurate manner, changing messages to suit different audiences, ability to engage and work in collaboration with others Ability to use technology as part of the role including Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and asset management systems on laptops, corporate iPhones and surface hubs. Technical knowledge of building repairs, maintenance and Legislation. Experience of managing complex construction projects in a technical buildings related environment

This role is within a busy vibrant team providing management of maintenance construction projects on ESCC corporate buildings to ensure that this stock of buildings are maintained to a high standard. The portfolio includes a wide range of buildings from corporate offices, libraries, children & Family centres and care homes to listed buildings and ancient monuments.
