Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Refuse Collector to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene by collecting waste and recyclables efficiently and safely. This position requires a strong commitment to service, teamwork, and adherence to safety protocols.

Areas of work are West Midlands, Leicestershire and Northamptonshire.

Duties

Operate refuse collection vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient collection of waste materials. Communicate effectively with team members and the public to provide excellent service. Perform routine inspections and maintenance on collection vehicles, demonstrating mechanical knowledge. Drive various types of vehicles including flatbed lorries and vans as required for waste collection routes. Ensure proper disposal of collected refuse in accordance with local regulations. Assist in loading and unloading waste materials at designated sites. Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and equipment used during collections. Adhere to all safety guidelines while on duty, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Qualifications

Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a warehouse environment is advantageous. Valid driving licence with experience in commercial driving preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot minor vehicle issues is desirable. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members and the public. A commitment to working outdoors in various weather conditions is essential. Physical fitness is required, as the role involves lifting and moving heavy items regularly.

Monday - Thursday 7am - 4pm

Friday 7am - 1.30pm

PPE supplies and training given.

Job Type: Temp to perm
Contract length: 5 months

Pay: From 12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
