We are a well-established, high-quality day nursery located in Kingsthorpe, Northampton. Our mission is to provide exceptional early years education in a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment. As our setting continues to grow, we are seeking a proactive and organised Business & Accounts Administrator to support the nursery's daily operations.
About the Role:
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines customer service, HR support, administration, and basic financial processes. You will be the key administrative contact in the nursery, with responsibility for a range of important tasks. Full training will be provided on our nursery management software.
Key Responsibilities:Enquiries & Customer Service
Respond to incoming enquiries by phone and email
Book and schedule nursery show rounds
Follow up with prospective families
HR & Recruitment Support
Initiate and track DBS checks
Arrange interviews and send offer letters
Prepare induction paperwork and diarise induction meetings
Manage onboarding and recruitment documentation
Schedule staff supervision and appraisal dates; send monthly reminders to managers
Finance & Reporting
Collate and submit payroll hours each month
Complete monthly dietary requirement charts
Update monthly milk claim figures
Check government funding codes and issue funding paperwork to parents
Ensure all funding documentation is returned and uploaded correctly
Update the local authority funding portal each term
Operational & Administrative Tasks
Order and manage stock of supplies
Maintain accurate nursery records and databases
Diarise key events, reviews and deadlines
Provide general administrative support to the Operations Director
What We're Looking For:
Essential:
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Confident user of Microsoft Outlook
Attention to detail and accuracy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload
Trustworthy, with a commitment to confidentiality and safeguarding
Desirable:
Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
Experience in a similar role (education/childcare preferred but not essential)

DBS Requirements:
This role is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check. The cost of 16 per year for the Update Service is payable by the employee.
