We're looking for a Business Administrator Trainee to join our friendly team based at Cotswold District Council, Cirencester. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while working towards a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship -- all while supporting the delivery of vital local council services that make a real difference in our communities.
This full-time, two-year fixed-term contract role offers 37 hours per week, combining on-the-job learning with dedicated training time at Cirencester College.
What you'll be doing
You'll play a key part in helping our Support Service team run smoothly by:
Providing day-to-day administrative support to the Residential Service Group
Handling customer enquiries via phone, email, social media, and face-to-face interactions
Using a range of IT systems to record and manage information accurately
Carrying out general office tasks such as photocopying, scanning, and data entry
Liaising with officers, senior staff, and councillors to ensure effective communication
Supporting continuous improvement across departments
Working towards successfully completing your
Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship
within 24 months
This is a hands-on role where you'll develop key professional skills, gain valuable workplace experience, and contribute to services that directly benefit your community.
What we're looking for
Essential:
GCSEs (Grade 9-4 / A-C) in English and Maths or equivalent qualifications Commitment to completing the Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Confident IT and keyboard skills, with a willingness to learn new systems
Strong attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines
Desirable:
Familiarity with Microsoft and Google software packages
Experience using digital systems and technology
Good written and verbal communication skills

Special Conditions
There may be a requirement to work at other Publica Group (Support) Ltd and/or client locations
You may be asked to work reasonable additional hours in line with service needs
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle are desirable
This role will require a Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check
