Location: Brighton (1-2 Day in Office)

Role Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Business Analyst with strong exposure to card payment systems to join a leading financial services client in the UK. The role involves working across credit, debit, and prepaid card products, supporting product development, system integration, and regulatory compliance initiatives. You will engage with key stakeholders to deliver strategic card services in line with UK regulations and global scheme standards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex).

Key Responsibilities:

Gather, analyse, and document business requirements for card-related systems and processes including card issuance, transaction processing, settlements, disputes, and fraud management.

Work closely with internal teams (Product, Compliance, Operations, IT) and external vendors (e.g., TSYS, GPS, Marqeta, FIS) for solution delivery.

Define and manage BRDs, FSDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process maps, and interface specifications.

Collaborate with card scheme partners (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) and ensure compliance with scheme mandates and UK Finance and FCA regulations.

Participate in Agile ceremonies - backlog grooming, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives.

Support QA teams in defining and validating test cases during System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

Conduct impact assessments for PSD2, Strong Customer Authentication (SCA), and Open Banking changes.

Ensure compliance with PCI DSS, EMV standards, and other industry mandates relevant to UK card operations.

Provide business support during go-live and post-implementation phases.

Key Skills & Experience:

5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst within the cards/payments domain.

Strong understanding of UK banking and payments ecosystem.

Hands-on experience in card lifecycle management, scheme reporting, and transaction processing.

Familiarity with UK-specific regulations including FCA, PSD2, SCA, and AML/KYC practices.

Experience working with card processors (e.g., GPS, TSYS, FIS, Marqeta) and integration with digital banking platforms.

Proficient in writing BRDs, FSDs, user stories, and process documentation using tools like JIRA, Confluence, Visio.

Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical teams.

Desirable:

Experience with digital wallet or mobile payment platforms (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay).

Knowledge of ISO 8583 / ISO 20022 messaging standards.

Familiarity with real-time payments, Faster Payments Service (FPS), and BACS.

BA certifications (e.g., BCS Business Analysis, CBAP, or equivalent).

Soft Skills:

Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Proactive and collaborative approach to cross-functional teamwork.

Ability to work in a regulated, fast-paced UK financial services environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to 250.00 per day
