Your Role:We're looking for a Business Analyst to join our News Broadcasting Digital Team. You'll work across the News Broadcasting Audio Team. The Audio team looks after our universal web player housing Virgin Radio, Times Radio, TalkSPORT and Talk radio stations. We are currently in the process of extending the web player to support all of our Irish stations, who come up under Onic as a single brand. Additionally the audio squad includes a team of backend engineers who look after the customer data, collecting user's preferences and permissions. It is essential to be able to demonstrate experience working with backend systems such as REST APIs and GraphQL
Day to day
+ You will work within an Agile product team that also comprises the following disciplines - engineering (which also includes QA), product management, project management, UX&D.
+ You will engage in business analysis activities that ensure that we continue to develop and improve our widely recognised media products.
+ You will work in partnership with the Product Manager to ensure backlogs are high quality in terms of content, visibility, and understanding of business value.
+ Analyze, document, and improve existing backend workflows, APIs, data structures, and integrations. You will be expected to perform in depth analysis on prioritized initiatives in a way that they can eventually be broken down into clearly understandable epics and user stories that can be prioritized according to their clearly outlined business value.
+ Partner with developers to ensure system solutions align with long-term business and technical goals.
+ Collaborate with technical teams to gather and translate business requirements into backend system designs and technical specifications.
+ Part of your role undoubtedly will include coaching the dev teams on how to structure and format good requirements and stories further ensuring the team is self-sufficient and you are not acting as a translator/scribe.
+ When stories are delivered you should ensure there is feedback to the team and the business stakeholders on the value that was created.
+ You should also expect to actively research best practice and strategic direction within the industry and find ways to share this back into the team. Part of your role will also include contributing and maintaining the quality of BA standards and practices
What we're looking for from you:
Requirements elicitation and analysis
+ Ability to elicit requirements through various techniques - workshops, interviews, shadowing, etc. - outlining business value, cost to deliver and time constraints
+ A great communicator who can share risks, assumptions and constraints effectively with dev teams and business stakeholders alike
+ Experience facilitating conversations outlining potential solutions and prioritising options based on business value or required outcomes
+ Ability to present information in different styles according to the need and maturity of the dev team AND according to the stakeholder type
+ Experience of the entire technology delivery lifecycle from inception to release and maintenance.
+ Encourage and establish (or re-establish) ways of working for the product teams and third parties with clear accountabilities
+ Seek ways to collaborate across the wide spectrum of stakeholders in order to achieve common understanding of challenges, opportunities and next steps
+ Contribute towards creating a trusted empowered team that feels comfortable handling challenging conversations around scope, benefits, failure and ways of working
+ Deliver in agile/iterative environments with some experience of methodologies such as SCRUM, Kanban and Lean. Understanding of iterative product development including MVP, prototyping and lean start-up techniques.
+ Help teams achieve their and the associated organisational goals
+ Improve a team's performance by promoting Agile values alongside ways of working in order to mature the team's Agile understanding and confidence to manage itself
